Tjumls Fokkmioki.. — Some time ago it was mentioned m a telcgiam that an aiea ot ground on the Thames foreshore, to be called the Hidden Treasure special claim, had been taken up by Mr"\\\ Fraser, M.JI.U., with a view to liaving it floated into a company in London. I now learn that plans have been prepared and reports made on the ground by Messib Bayldci, MuLaien, and Edwaidt, which weie toi warded to London by the outgoing 'Frisco mail cut Auckland on Saturday nighl. I am intoimed that the iloating ot the Company is in the hands oi Sir Julius Yogel, to whom the plans and lepoits have been foiu aided. Thames, Feb. 27. j \ r \mi (}.Yi. A few pounds oi picked btone ha\e been saved from these stopes dui\ng the week. There is no change to repoi t from the other workings. There are 201bs of picked stone on hand. Syi,\ i \ (Taiarn). — The Little Agnoi leef has been cut in the main dri\e after diivmg 1,012 feet. Very little qaaitz has been bioken down, as a large volume of water and a quantity of gas aic issuing fiom the face. Caledomax. — It has been decided to extend the shaft into the Otago workings on the Otago .section of this mine. The reef where opeiations will be commenced is about 1 foot thick, and in \ery good country for gold. A trial crushing is being broken out from No. 1 reef war, its junction with No, 2 le f, on the No. 1 le\el which has been driven a distance of 500 ft from the main shaft. The reef here is 3ft, in thickness, but although it contains very favourable mineials no gold has yet been seen. About twenty loads have been broken out from here, and will be put through a crushing this week. The battery is still fully occupied on public crushingo. Clas is troublesome in the mine.
