OFFERS OF SERVICES. Auckland, Feb. 27.

On Sunday last, Captain Geddis informed the Hon. A telegiam from Napier says:—•'Captain T. McCartny, of the Artilleiy, wired to the Defence Minister to-day (TueKlayj, offering the services of rifby men, and claiming piiority on the ground that neaily all are veterans, and many fought on the East Coast, so know the country well. The Minister replied to the eHect that he did not anticipate the necessity for a further force, but, if required, he would accept their services. The Naval Volunteers, at paiade, albo decided to ofler their services." The Victoria Kifles, City Guardb, Newton Rifles and Royal liish Rifles decided last night to, offer their serviceb to the Government. It is understood that if further troops are required, the infantry corps will be the next to go. Should any news be received that they are to proceed to the front, three guns will be tired from the Albert Park.
