An Qpotiki correspondent wires :— Te Koobi leturned irom Omaramutu on Sunday morning, and went to the Waioeka pa, about six miles iularid from the township, wheie-he is at present. He is greatly incensed at Wi Pere/on whose invitation and that of his people he was going on, and ordered him and Peka out of his whare yesterday. He has not yet decided to leply until to-night, The Government should "send lound a steamer with 200 men at once. The settlers in the Patutahi, Ormond and Te Arai disbiicts had sentries posted and patrols out during last night and again tonight. The Premier still remains at Ormond. A correspondent at the Hauhau encampment writes , that there is much excitement amongst the Maoris, but no trouble is expected. A meeting was held to discuss the CJisborne meeting 4 . As the speeches were interpreted, theHauhaus ridiculed the idea of danger. The speeches of the Ngatiporou chiefs were received in ominous silence. The Hauhaus. decided to otier no resistance to theGo\einment under any circumstances whatever. If Te Kooti comes, " very well ;" if he does not come, " very well ;"' if he is shot, " very well ;" if angry Europeans come, " very well."
