CAMPED AT OMARUMUTU. CHIEFS OF NOTE IN HIS PARTY. Opotiki, Feb. 23.

Mk Bush, R.AF., and Inspector Goodall. under insbructions from the Premier, interviewed Te Kooti at Opotiki Hotel, trying to persuade him not to carry out his intention of going to Gisborne. The old warrior, however, still persisted in afhrming that he will go no matter what may happen. I have just returned from Otnarumutu, where Te Kooti is now camped with his followers. The place is about seven miles from this township. It is Te lvooti's intention to remain there till Sunday morning, when he will break camp again, and resume his journey to- \\ ards Poverty Bay. His route will be through the Motu bush, and he will go thence to Gisborne. His party does nob appear capable of very great resistance, and, so far as outward appearances go, is not armed to any extent, It is, however, significant that amongst To Koobi's fellower.i are nearly all the chiefs of note in these parts, including liakuraku, Te Tana, Pukenui and others.
