We Inve received from Mr R. Harris, loot! agent for the Mutual Creditors Association, a copy of the Commercial Handbook itnil Directory issued by that institution, It contains a great variety of use- , i'ul iiiEoinmtion ; amongst which may be, mentioned a list of all bills of sale, morfc-' gi'gosj bankruptcies, etc. etc., for tlie|year ending Kovumbcr 15th, 1888. I About twenfy-fivo new scholars have b^en enrolled at Te Aroha public school since 10 opening after the midsummer holidays, the number on the roll now exceeding (no hundred and eighty. From fuller particulars ju->t received we learn that the third boy (Chas, Cox), who competed from this school at the last examinations for ii junior scholarship, received a total of 412 maiks, being 72 more than the n-qtiibite minimum reuuired ia order to obiain u scholarship; his failure was in consequence oi his on'y obtaining 38 per ceijt in one particular .subject (the mini- j Uinm being 40 per cent in any subject), although he obtained a general average of CO per cent. Cox only passed the fifth standard a fortnight before the examination, no that he acquitted h'uusslf most creditably.
