DRAUGHTS ITEMS.

A march for £5 and the championship of Cumberland has (says an exchange) been in progress for some time between the present champion, Mr Cowan, of Whitehaven, and Mr J. Mackie, of Cleator Moor. The conditions were five games to be played at both towns, and the most wins out of the 10 games to be the victor. This ended in a draw, both gentlemen securing an equal number of games. They then agreed to the same terms for another match, and this second contest has just been completed with the same result. It is understood that they will play again.
