F RIGHTFUL ACCIDENT WITH A WARSHIP.
A private letter has been received at .Sydney from Ivobc, Japan, which contain^ thiilling details of the overturning of a Japanese warship while undergoing lepaiib on a slip. It seems that the ciadle which was support in£ the \essel bioke suddenly, and the vessel afc once heeled over, iesti?ig .-ideways on the slip. A large number of men weie cleaning the vessel'? bottom and side at the time, ond these weie pinned to the ship under the weight of the heavy warship. "Up to the present," says the writer ot the letter, " there has been no chance of extricating any of the bodies, and it will be about four months before the vessel is righted." The letter further states that the sight after the accident was most appalling. The wives of the men who were killed "rushed about in a state of frenzy, having lost their bieadwinners : mothers and fatheis wept bitterly telations crowded to the scene of the disaster, and altogether the scene was most heart- rendine."
