At last the mysterious and doubtful career of the late ''Dr.''Drurnmond has, been satisfactorily cleared up. "The sudden ,disappearance of .the psuedo' medical man, who at one time carried on ' an extensive practice at Ashfield, "' N.S.W., and, in consequence of certain allegations., mysteriously left, that colony with some i£6, 000 in. his possession,) is doubtless still fresh in the tninds, of the public.' When 'it .became luiown that he .had absconded. f torn Sydney the matter was placed in , the -hands of the ' Detective Delpai'tmeo t, , -and * with £he.> view of establishing, his .identity,- a, photograph of the' doctor,' was,itnmediately despatched to the Dr. Diummbnd.nowresidingin.R'ome. On receipt of tha likeness,* thje doctor! afc once recognisedit as beingthat.of.his'nvissing.assistant, George Very Wood, \\vho while the doctor had been touring on'the continent^ suddenly decampe,d with his diplomas ; ,an(J asriothingcould beascertained of themissiagr man's subsequent' whereaboiits, rthe<doctoir came to the conclusion that Ije'shad. committed'suicide.
