DAIRY RECORDS AT CIRENCESTER COLLEGE.
The record for 1887, the first complete year of the operations of the dairy at the Royal Agricultural College at Cirencester, shows that the 13 cows produced a total of 72,5624 lbs of milk. Of this total it may be mentioned that a couple of Shorthorns gave 9,7531b9 and 6,1561bs respectively. One of the Red Polls yieldel7,Us2£lbs, while two Ayrshires gave 7,334£1b5, and 8,1411bs respectively. One of the Guernseys yielded 6,046fc1b5, and another 9,518£1b5, while of the two Kerries kept, one gave 6,7731b5, and the other 5,3621b5. ,Our readers may, find it ot interest to, 'compare <bhes,e milkjrg records with those of thp JJqlsjbejin-Friesiap cows which we quoted In the last number qf £he Fabmeb. >The yield of the two Kerry cows above mentioned, considering the small' size of these cattle,' is truly wonderful. With reference to the quality of the milk at the college we may state' that from 44,732£1bs of milk, 4,2971bs of cream was i from which 1,6591bs of butter was 'made, which mußt certainly be reckonedas; a very good butter yield per gallon of milk.
