ASHBURTON Last night. Francis Fahey, a village settler living near Chertsey, shot bis wife dead this morning, and then attempted suicide. It is not yet known whether he will recover. Family troubles is the supposed cause.

CHRISTCHURCH, Last night, Francis Fahey, who shot his wife, and attempted to shoot himself at Chertaey, near Ashbaiton, was known here under aliases, Michael Fahey, and Michael Slattery. He was formerly a night watchman for the Bank of New Zealand. He was addicted to drink.
