MINING NEWS. Thames, Jan. 16.
TnisNxoN. — It is uadersfcood hero that hero is a strong probability of this Company commencing operations from the Saxon Company's shaft afc an early elate. There can be no doubt that were this course adopted, the Trenton mine would soon come to the front as a gold producer,as it is a wellknown fact that good payable quartz was carried by the Saxon right up to the various stopes on the reef, while it is also stated that gold was left showing. The profit which would doubtless result from carrying on woik here would in all probability be sufficient to also defuiy the cost of continuing the sinking of the Company's own main shaft. 1 believe the mine manager has been instructed to report on the matter to the directors. Tenders have been invited for sinking the shaft another*s feet, and will be forwarded to the ducctors on Saturday. fcjAXox. — Thid Company's mine continues bo look well.
