Mr and Mrs J, C. Firth, and several members of their family nrrived by yesterdays train from Auckland, on a, visit to Te Aiolw. The ordinary monthly meetinsjn of Piako and Ohineimiri County Councils, and Te Aroha Town Board take place on Saturday next. Mr Adam Porter arrived at Te Ajoha from Karangahake yesterday morning, and proceeded to Waiorongo-nai to see JMr Howell. To-day Mr Porter purpose* inspecting the woika progressing at the Champion Gold Mines, Tui. Owing to pressure on our space to-day, a large amount of interesting matter u unavoidably held over till Saturday. Attention is directed to a number of new advertisement/? which will be found in our columns to-day. Messrs Hanks and Garlick were the sncessful tenderern for the harvesting of this seasons corn crops on the Annandale estate ;Mr H. Buttle, manager. Messrs Hanks and Garlick have also contracted to cut over two hundred acres of corn on the Larkwortby estate ; Mr G. L. Grant, manager. This firm have recently entered into some very large ploughing and other contracts on the Eastci>a«t, nnd altogether have between forty and fifty horses, and a very large plant steadily at w.-,rk, A meeting of the Te Aroha School Fete ' Committee was held on Monday evening the following being present :— Mrs Blencoe, Re?s. J. Marshall, and S, Lavvry, and Mr Menzies. The various accounts for the fete were presented and parsed for payment. It was found i>y compiling these with the subscription lists that when all the promises were fulfilled there would be about enough to pay for everything. It is to bo hoped that all the unpaid subscriptions will b<j paid foith'vith, so that all accounts may be settled without delay. The monthly meeting of the Te Aroha '< School Committee w-x» held on Monday evening Present :^ Rev*. J. Marshall (in ' ptfs VliaJr), and S. Lawry, and Messrs IJeathcote, and Menzieg. We Jearn (says the FoxtQn Herald) that^ Mr Pascal lias disposed of his crop of fjajc at Korerjj to tyr Gledall, of Nelson, Who intends transferring his plant from that locality after Christmaß.
