THE HOLIDAYS AT DUNEDIN. Dunedin, Jan. 2.
The weather was magnificent for yesbei day's holiday. All the maritime excursions were largely patronised, nearly a thousand going to Oamaru by the Waihora. The Caledonian Sporbs were attended by close on nine thousand persons. Noel, who was in grand form, won the principal handicap, winning the 120 yards event and finishing second in the iinal distance of 350 yards. His prizo money amounted to £26. Houston was second, and McCabe third. Wintrup won the three mile walking race, and Thompson the mile race in a most hollow fashion. The weather to-day is glorionf.
HOLIDAYS AT THE THAMES. Thamks, Jan. 2. The oxcursions to Tapu and (j-lenuue yebterday wero woll patronised. A Jm'ye number left tor Auckland yosbeiday by the Rotomahaiui, and again this morning.
