Freckles. — The following i? oive of,, many 'remedies for freckles: One 'ounce lemon juice, half drachm ot sug-ai-, quarter drachm borax ; mix't'hem, and lefc the lotion stand till clear ; then rub on the face as often as possible. To Reduce Stoutness. — Don'ofeal potatoes, puddings, pastry, cakes, tapioca, rice, sugar, nor drink cocoa, milk, ale nor stout; bathe frequently, rake plenty of outdoor exercise, sip a tumblerful of' hot water on lising and retiiing, and one hour before each meal. To Cleax a Filtkr. — Take two wineglassfuls of Condy's crimson tluid undiluted, with ten drops of sulphuric acid, and add them to from two to four gallons of water.. Then place the whole in the filter for a few hours, alter "which pass~three gallons of puro soft water through. Fruit Salt. — Epsom salts, two ounces ; , tartarie acid, two ounces ; carbonate of soda, two ounces ; magnesia, half ounce ; loaf sugar (powdered very fine), half pound ; - and half ounce of ground ginger may be added if liked. Dose for adult : One dessert spoonful in a tumbler of water.
