A PASSENGER STEAMER ON FIRE. New York, December 24.
A steamer was leaving Memphis, a town of Tennessee, to day, when she caught fire. The vessel was crowded •with passengers. A panic ensued, and two hundred persons jumped into the river. The pilot stranded the vessel. The number of persons drowned is estimated at thirt}'.
