SUPPOSED SUICIDE AT MAKETU. Auckland, Dec. 24.

Constable Maroney, of Mi»ketu, is reported to have committed suicide last Monday. He appears for some time past to Have been suffering from melancholia. On Monday he came into the settlement, and'it was noticed that he seemed to have something on his mind, and to be mentally disturbed. Shortly afterwards he was ' missed, and on searching the adjacent swamp his body was found with a revolver lying beside it, ( He was much respected, and leaves a wife ? femd family. Maroney was formerly stationed Sb,, Rotorua.
