Aftisk a trial lasting from Monday morning bo Wednesday, during which a greab atnounb of evidence was presented, the pris oner Haita Te Peii has been committed foi trial for the murder, at Maatahu, of Mr and Mis Pook and their child. Hepa Haira's bi other wa& discharged, there being no evidence to connect him with the crime. Haira was brought to Gisborne from Awanui by the s.s. Australia this morning. He will be brought up at the Supreme Court sittings in March next.
