THE FINANCIAL NEWS ARTICLE. Dunkdin, Dec. 17.

Tiiis Premior, in the course of his speech last night said:— " There are one or two remarks by various speakers that I should like to refer to, I won't go through them all|j but will just say a word or two with reference to ope point. There were several remarks as to the state our credit has gob to in the old country. You will recollect that there is a telegram in to-jnight's paper saying that a pai'tioular paper, the "Financial News," which ha& been very severe on our credit, and which ha« undoubtedly done us very,, considerably .harm, has been writing a very severe article upon one of our important institutions. Well, it occurred to me, and it must have occurred to most of ,you, that these articles are generally, the result of entire ignorance of the facts oil" the" part of those who write them. - There, is no doubt bhat there are a large number of writers who have a. quick and ready pen, whowrtbemuoh better and much more easily if they, are not troubled with facts (laughter and applause), and I am afraid many of , those writers are in that position. You know, it has. been suggested that we should invite certain ]greab men to. visit our exhibition here', and it occurred to me that some people that we ought to inciude in our invitation should be the editor of the '• I'itfancial News." (Laughter and applause). I think that is quite worth trying. (A, voice, "Its is Wesbgarth "). l Westgarbh knows more ' about the colony ' than to write such stuff, but I v say, we might invite .gentlemen of.f thab sorb -to visit us and that it, would pay us to pay their expenses, and I for one would be glad , to put my hand in my, pocket and subscilb'e my mite towards paying tne expenses of any 1 of thosegentlemen that" \frave.wrib;ben usdown 'Bo.asi.O'let'them seefoKitjhemaelves.'
