At the Police Court to-day, Ilie Hon. W. Swanson, M.L.0., ami Henry Connoph were found guilty of fighting in (jueen-street on the slh ins(., and were lined 40b each and costs, Sergt. Keily's version of the affair was that at one p.m ho saw defendant standing on the footpath neur tite Herald office. They appeared to be having an angry conversation, ami "subsequently Connoph struck Swansou about the chest =with*his fist and 'staggered him. ' Then Swanson < maJe-a'blow at Connoph witli ibis stick, but -witness did not think the 5 stick struck Connoph. Connoph took a few paces backwards, and S wanton .following him struck him ou the mouth. Connoph returned the blow and then a b3'staader stepped between the parties. Before any blows were struck accused were pushing each other about. Both accused were examined on oath, and it was agieed Swanson struck the first blow, but:Br Giles, R.M., held that both parties were to blame for pausing a disturbance, and said they should have set a better example.
