CRICKET MATCH. KATIKATI v. WAIORONGOMAI.

Om Saturday last a match was played between on eleven from Katikati ami the Waiorongoraai Club. The game was decided in the first irnings in favour o£ Waiorongomni, the score bein* 100 • gainst 75 for the visitors. Katikati played a second innings, and at half-past six time was called for a score of 75. There vras a large number of spectators, who evinced great interest in the match. Mr Mulgan captained the visitor's team and Mr P. Pavitt the Club men. Some ! good play was witnessed on both sides. For Waiorongomai, Yardley showed up well in bowling, and Young, Jamieson, and Newman made some good catches. The fielding for the Club was slow at times, particularly in the near balls. The visitors were much smarter in this respect. Mulgan played a patient inn'ngs for Katikati and stored 20, and Carter surrendered the b:.t for a like number. The chief scorers for Waiorongomai were D, Young, 25 ; Yardley, 13 ; Paine, 3 3, and Nesbiit, 12. At the invitation of the Wiiiorongomai Club, the visitors met at Murphy's Premier Hotel in the evenit.g, where a I substantial dinner was provided. Mr F. P.ivitt presided in his efficient manner. The usual toasting was indulged in, and a number of songs were contributed, the whole evening being spent in a most tnjoy.ible manner. The [ proceedings closed with the Binging of " 01 1 Lang Syu<','' and the visitors left shortly after nine o'clock.
