ALLEDGED IMPOUNDING.

Bir~~Tn reply \t '( RJl\ Taylors letter, and also to correoton ,eitor made in ihe 'ivonlinsrl'hf mine,-I>ish to state, that it was on Tues^lny*.mon)ing shortly after five'n.nv'thatCl saw tfie Di>vey's ranging over and Thaxter'sjand in the ti-tree, hut without any cattle, and shortly afterwards they were collecting them up on the opposite flection where they (the cattle) had camped that night. I told Mr Taylor on Monday evoning that I had seen no cattle on his grass that day; amM. deny that he has any cause to state that people turn their cattle on his grass after dark. It will be a great benefit to all the neighbours when he does fence, for his grass draws drones of cattle and horsos from all parls, and causes much annoyance to those living near through the breaking of fences and destruction of trees, etc. Mr Taylor has of course a perfect right to impound any cattle trespassing o?i his grass, and when I inserted my letter I had no intention of hurting Mr Taylors feelings, nor had I anything to do> with Mr Jackson in the matter ; 1 only wished to make public that the cattle were taken from off the run. I wish no quarrel with Mr Taylor or any one. Hoping that this will close the matter, I am, etc., E. W. Brothers. Te Aroha West, Dec. 13th, 1888.
