FIRE INQUEST. Wanganui, Dec. 8.
Ax inquest was hold into the euube of the lire at the corner of Uidgway-street and the Avonue, by which fcho "Chronicle ollicc and other building^ Avere burub. Mr \Yard, K.jVI., coroner, presided, and, after some seven or ei-^hfc witnesses had been examined, the jury retired, and returned to Court in about twenty minutes, with the verdict that the liiu had originated in McGregors bootshop, but they could not state from what cause. During the examination of Mrs McUrogdt, i it transpired that she had insured in the [ Sun Office without informing the Phivnix, with whom she had a policy ; al=o, that ! stock amounting to £195 had 'been removed \ within the past month, and no notice hud been given to the insurance companies interested. It is mooted that further proceedings may be taken by the companies interested.
