DOUBLE MURDER AND ROBBERY. STOREKEEPER AND HIS WIFE KILLED. Napier, Dec. 7.
Xr.ws from Misborne states that the dis->, eoveiy ha^ been made of the murder of Frank I'ooke and his wife, who were store- ; keepers at Mofcahu, licnr Waiporo. 1/ Tlie bodies were found bohind the counter of the store, tho head of each victim boing severed from the body. The contents of the cash box arc missing, j\n axe and an iron bar covered with blood weie found near tho bodies. ' From the store to a detached dwelling bloody footprints, were tiaceablc. In the dwelling Pooka's son, 6 j-ears old, was found stunned, evidently by a blow on the head. The place has been thoroughly rausacked. Mr Vooke had only returned the night befoire the murder, and his horse was found with the saddle still on. ' There is no clue to the murderer. The child was brought down to Gisbovne this morning, He 'is still unconscious, and is not likely to recover.
