From the Secretary Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, asking that the. privilege of free baths be accorded a young man they proposed to send to Te Aroha ; for the past two years an invalid. Granted. From Mr Allan Tracy, lessee for the sole right of advertising on the whole of the Auckland Railways, as follows :—: — " Having taken over the contract for railway advertising, I would like to propose to you that a good advertisement at tho Auckland Railway Station would be of immense benefit to To Aroha. lam convinced that the majority of Aucklanders are entirely ignorant of the beauties of the place ami the benefits which they, residing as they do at a seaside town, would derive from a visit to Te Aroha with its mountain air and medicinal waters. I have been most successful since I commenced this railway advertising contract in the introduction of large painted boards with good striking descriptive advertisements in effective colours. I could fix you a board at Auckland station to be seen by railway travellers, tourists up the wharf, and residents in the town ; the board to be 10ft x 6ft on tho sido facing the station, anJ 10ft x 3ft to be seen from tho Queen street wharf ; painted nnd lettered with a fair amount of writing for the sum of ten pounds per annum, (inclusive) etc., I suggest the wording, but the price would be the same for auy wording you might choose." Mr Ilott spoko strongly in support of the offer being accepted, anil said he believed it would be money well spent, and prove a really good way of advertising tho baths ; the other members also approved of the proposal, nnd it was resolved on the motion of Mr Dolt, seconded by Mr Wilson : That Mr Tracy's offer re advertising be accepted iv terms of his lette«\ On the motion of Mr Ahier, seconled by Mr Ilott, it was resolved that the baths be opened at G a.m. till 10 p.m. for the summer months. The receipts for tho month were stated to be LSI. Accounts to the amount of L 23 11s were passed for payment ; leaving a debit balance of L 9 133 Bd. It was decided to hold a special meeting of the Board on next Saturday evening, to consider a letter received from the lad. charged with misconduct in the Domain, matter of assisting the \ public library, etc.
