WELLINGTON, Last Night. Afc the first day of the Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting to-day, the results were: — Flying Stakes : "Whisper, 1 ; Forrester, 2 ; Man Friday, 3. Littlo Scrub, Cupid, and Rifle also started, Whisper was favourite, Forrester got away with the lead, which he maintained to the turn, when Clifford broughc Whisper up with a rush and a grand i ace endued down the straight. Whisper winning by a neclc comfoitably. Rifle fell and broke his neck. Hurdles : Orlando, 1 ; Clyde, 2 ; Reputation, 3. Kangaroo also stai ted. Spring Handicap : Strcnuos, 1 ; Little Scrub, 2 ; Leonora, 3.
DLNEDIN, Last Night. The first clay's racing of the D.J.C. Sprint? Meeting took place to-day. For the Hurdle Race, Trapper, 1 ; Civis, 2; Garibaldi, 3. It was a splendid race and was won by the shortest of heads. Maiden Stakes : St. James, 1 ; Matamata, 2 ; Parvula, 3. _ St. Jjunes was favourite St. Andiews Handicap : Sultan ( Whiti), 1 ; Wolverine (Sharp), 2'; Hermitage (Prfce), 3. Sullau uon by u neclc. Selling Kacc : Blizzard, 1 ; Wutorlmry, 2.
