Tnj? annual meeting of the above/Council for 'th 9 purpose of 'electing 1 a Chairman in accordance with the Counties Act, was Ih'ld afc the Council Chambers, P aero a, ftt noon on Wednesday. Present : Crs Strange, Uobson, Dearie, and Moore. The Cleric read* the section of the Act with reference to the election of Chairman, and then called upon the members present to propose a Chairman. Or Moore said the present Chairman, Mr VV. 0. Nicholla, had consentel to stand for another 'term, and he thought they could not do better than elect him. His qualifications were well known to them all. lie proposed : That Mr Nioholls he re-elected Chairman. Cr Kohson a^id it gave him great pleasure to second the motion, which was curried unanimously. This closed the business of the annual meeting.
Obdinahy Meeting. This meeting was held in order to appoint two representatives on the Thames Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, under Clause 7 of the Hospital and Chaiitable Institutions Act, 18b5 ? to come into office on the first Wednesday in December. Cr Dearie was voted (o the chair. Upon the motion of Cr Moore, seconded by Cr Strange, Cr Robson was appointed to represent the Council on Hospital Board and Cr Dearie on the Charitable Aid Board, Cr Moore then moved a vote of thanks to these two gentlemen for the manner in Avhich they had carried out their duties during their term of office. The motion was seconded and carried, and the meeting then terminate I. The ordinary monthly meeting of tbe Council will bo held this afternoon at three o'clock.
