THE SAMOAN WAR. Sydney, November 21.
The steamer Lubeck brings news from Samoa to November 12th. I On November 6th, Tamasese had concentrated 3,000 men in the fort at j Point Mulinuu, and next day the greater part ofMataafa's force assaulted their entrenchments. After a tough fight, they were repulsed with a loss of 13 killed and 20 or 30 wounded. A number of the latter afterwards died. Tamasese lost 8 kilied and 10 wounded. Two of his war boats were etjgaged, but did no damage. The wounded men were .-.ttended to Dy the surgeons of the English men-of-war. Mataafa's force is now nearly double that of Tamasese. On the 9th and 10th a dropping fire was kept up, but no harm was done on either side. When the steamer sailed the hostile uarties were still facing each other. Mataafa is expected to win in the end. He is building a large war boat, and a naval fight is expected shortly.
