Wellington Nov. 8. Mk Thomas Mklville writes fiom Gla^ow to the Minister of Mine?, claiming, after 2 years' work, to have arranged for the trial of a new process of saving gold and silver from re! Kioto ry oie& known a& the " Cafesell gold saving process. '' It is to be tried in the Crown, Welcome, Sutro, and Sunny Cornet mines in Karangahake distiict. Twenty bons of stone from the Crown mine was tested at Glasgow, with the result that 87 per cent, of bullion was saved Mr Mehille states that he has spent thousands oi pounds over the process and asks, if it ifea success, that heshonld, by way of recompense, be allowed to take up a claim of 200 acres on easy conditions.

Wellington, November 6. A despatch has been received by mail from the Agent-General referring bo his proposed vi&ib to Frieberg. He states that he had arranged with Professor Koberts Austin to accompany him, with a view of obtaining a complete report up the most recent process in use there for the treatment of ores, as well as other piocesses in use in the United States and elsewhere with which Professor Austin i& familiar. Sir Dillon Bell adds that Sir Saul Samuel had informed him that he was deputed by his Government to make inquiries ot the same native, and to appoint competent expeits to go to Kew South Wales.
