Detective Benjamin, of the New Zealand police, who is over here on special duty connected with the Exhibition, was at the above station at the hour named, looking after pick-pockets, when the tables were turned upon him completely. Some enterprising Knight of St. Nicholas, other •Wise a common thief, seized the opportuinty to steal a pocket-book from the hip pocket of the detective's trousers. The book contained a special pass for the Exhibition and Benjamin's New Zealand and Victorian detective card. Detective Benjamin will pay SA rewai'd for the r recovery of his pocket-book and conf tents. How that thief must have chuckled r ' / yrhen he came to look over-his haul.
