THE PARKES REDUCTION PROCESS. A gentleman who has juct arrived here from Kavangahake informs me that the Parkes lurnace has commenced smelting ; operations and is now in full blast. The I bullion is to be drawn oil" threo times in 24 ! hours. When he loffc the furnace had been running 5 or 6 hours, and everything was working very nicely.
FAILURE OF TREATMENT OF TAILINGS. The Molloy process has proved un.succcss" ful in bi outing the tailings on the toicshoie. At a meeting ot tho dhectors of the Company held yesterday afternoon il was decided to suspend operations with the present machinery, the process not having been successful in saving gold in such quantity as was expected. Numeious assays have been made of the tailings, both before and after treatment and indicate that although they contain oold in payable quantities the pans *" do not save it. 'I he works will be closed tiom co-day, except that one man v>\U be kept employed creating the tailings by the ordinary battery berdans.
