A GRAND WATERFALL Wellington, Oct. 28.
MkJamui McKerrow, Surveyor-General, this morning received a telegram fiom Mr C W. Adams, Chief Surveyor of Ofcago, stating that the latter gentleman had just returned from a visit to the great Sutherland Waterfall. Mr Adams reports that the fall is 1,904 feet high, with a volume of water equal to the Bowen Fall at Milford Sound. The water strikes the rook precipice twice in its descent, forming three leaps, the upper one being 815 feet high, the middle 751 feet, the lower 338 feet. Mr Adams adds that the surroundings are picturesque, and adds another to the many beautiful scenes of New Zealand. Mr McKinnon, who has been employed by the Survey Department, reports that he has found a practicable track trom Lake Te Anau to Milford Sound.
