Information was received afc Madrid on September 13th that the steamer Lawrence, while entering the harbour of Santa Cruz, in the Canary Islands, collided with the Italian steamer Sud America from Montevideo, which was at anchor. The latter, which had on board 216 passengers and a crew of 67, sank almost immediately 180 of the passengers and 63 of the crew were rescued and safely landed. Only nine bodies were recovered. * '
