DESTRUCTIVE FLOOD?. Inundations in the Canton of St. Gall have caused awful devastation. It was reported, September 14, that fifteen thousand acres of in habited arid populated land covered with water. All the crops are
ruined, and the granaries, barns, houses and farm utensils washed away, while the district is converted into lakes. Thousands of people were forced to lly for their lives. Many villages have been abandoned.
