Carried Off by Brigands.
! A lettkk, dated Bellova, July 101b, lias been sent by Mrs Laendler to her brother in Vienna, giving an account of the taking of her husband by brigands at Bellova. The letter 1 each eel Vienna by way of Constantinople, and contains the following interesting particulars :—: — Mrs Laendler had just put her only child, a little girl, to bod at ten o'clock in the evening, when her husband, remarking that he wa& going to the railway to fetch something, left the house. Soon afterwards a kava-s rushed into the room, calling out, ' We are in danger, robbers are coming.' Mrs Laendler closed the door and kept the kavass near her. A number of robbers then arrived, who knocked at the door, which she opened. The robbers entered, pointed their weapons at her and the kavass, and asked ' Where is your husband ?' Meanwhile more robbers ariived, and called upon the others to leave the house. A little later the inmates heard repeated firing. When all vi as quiet again Mis Laendler made inquiries after her husband, and to her horror heard that he had been taken by the brigands, together with an official named Binder, a rich Gieek merchant from Sofia, and an advocate. He was at the station when the brigands arrived and surrounded ifc Some oi them entered and e.illed upon the gentlemen they wanted to .surrender by name, and drayged Laendler, Bmdei and the Greek merchant away. The two foimer resisted, and received many blows from the robbers, who let the advocate free because he had successfully pleaded the cause of one of their number three years before. Among the brigands Mr Laendler and the Greek merchant observed their own servants). The robbers alf-o took a railway pouter off with them, saying they meant t'> use him as a messenger. After talcing every loose article they conld get at they packed chem on a hoise, and left with their pi isonerf. They .subsequently sent a me^sciio-er to Mrs Laendler, saying that she need not be afraid, for they would feed her husband well, and soon let her know the amount of his random, and if it vveie not forthcoming they would send her hip head.
