BANKRUPTCY ADMINISTRATION. Wellington, October 11.

An interesting return, showing the revenue from bankruptcy during the two financial years 1887-88, and the amount charged on account of administration, has been prepared to the order of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. The x'evenue during the two years amounted to £22,950 made up as follows : — Fees in Supreme Court, £7,753 ; fees in District Court, £5,630 ; percentages on estates, £9,567. The cost of administration is put down at exactly the amount ot revenue received, viz., £22,950, made up as follows : — Ex-, penditure charged against the vote for bankruptcy, £15,050 ; District Judgeßroad's salary and expenses, £2,292 ; proportion of salaries of judge?, registrars, etc., £4,000; cost of auditing accounts, for which no charge is made against the estates, although the Act provides for it, £1,000 ; rent of offices, printing and stationery, £500. The return was laid before the Chamber at its quarterly meeting to-day, and the president (Mr J. H. Cock) pointed out that it was manifestly unfair that the whole of the salary of Judge Broad, who was called upon to deal with other matters than those relating to bankruptcy, only should be charged against the revenues.
