LATEST FROM THAMES. WERAHIKO MINE, WAIORONGOMAI. A GOOD RETURN.
A short time ago a parcel of quartz was forwarded by Mr H. H Adams from the Werahiko Claim, for treatment at the Thames School of Mines, and the woik was concluded to-day. The total weight of the quartz treated was 1970 ibs, the assay value of which was £17 Is 2d per ton, and the value saved £15 5s 2d per ton. The quartz contained 3ozs Sdwts IOgrs of gold, and 5ozs 4dwts 2grs of silver ; b«ing equivalent to 3ozs I2dwts 2grs of gold, and 5ozs I8dwts 5grs of silver per ton. The assay of the stuff gave 3ozs I9dwts I6grs of gold and 7ozs Ildwts Igr silver per ton, so that it will be seen a very high percentage of the precious metals was sarod.
