THE UNION MINE, WAIHI. EXHIBITION OF SPECIMENS.
To-day there were on exhibition at the Chamber of Commerce a number of quartz specimens from the Union Mine, Waihi. The specimens, which amount to some two or three cwt., were brought up from the mine by Mr Walker, the manager and were taken from a lode six feet thick on the low level in the mine. It is asserted these are not fancy specimens, but comprise a fair average lot of the stone. The specimens will probably be handed over to Mr Geo. FraseT*-for breaking down, with a view to ascertaining the value of the stone.
