The servants were absent and he had a quairel with 'his wife, bub ho undressed himself and Avent to bed on a mattress on the lloor. He'Jiad'a slight recollection of having received a blow on the head and ho next lound himself in the hospital. Minnie Thaxter, a servant girl in the employ of Davies, stated positively that she was home at 8.45 on the night of the occurrence, and all went to bed at 10 o'clock, at which hour Davies had nob .arrived home. She was awakened by Davies and his wife quarrelling. The former threatened to kill his wile and three children and accused her of having been down town to see her "fancy man." All was then quiet for some Lime:, but she was again awakened by their quarrelling. Mr Davies shortly alter wards came into witness's bcdioom and said she had killed her husband as he had drawn a knife across her breast and threatened to kill her. He had taunted her and called her names, and she had picked up a tomahawk and struck him on the head. The caso is likely to last all day.
