TELEGRAPH LINEMAN MISSING. A Mysterious Affair. Rotorua, Sept. 20.

Tjik Rotorua telegraph lineman, Henry Bushey, left Rotorua on horseback to inspect the line to Orakei-Korako on Monday morning. He should have met the Taupo line-man there in the evening. Nob turning up the Taupo line man according to regulations laid down for them came right through to Rotorua arriving here about 6 p.m. on Tuesday. On reporting not having met the R- torua lineman, Mr Danseys suspicions as- to something being wrong were immedtately aroused, and he proceeded out at 8 p.m. and searched all night till ten the following morning. Finding no traces of Bushey he returned quite puzzled but this is now accounted for by the fact that Bushey was achised by a friend to lea\e the inspection of the tirst ten miles for his return journey, as the country is rough and much torn about by water courses siuce the eruption. It is therefore thought he went by the Waiotapu Road. It was Mr Bushey "s tirst trip along this section of the line. Mr Dansey infoims me that he has a very high opinion of hib lineman for steadiness and general intelligence. Mr Buahey has .a wife and thiee little boy? here who are naturally in a terrible state ot anxiety. A search party of ten started out this morning.
