MINING NEWS.
Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co., Waiorongomai : — There is nothing of importance to report with respect to any of the mines ; work is progressing steadily. All three sections of the water- race extension are being pushed ahead. As noany hands as can be profitably employed are engaged on the work of levelling ground required for the new buildings ; an'i several bricklayers are at work erecting the new chrmney stack required for the revolving and reverberating furnaces. This stack is 8 feet 6 inches square at the base, and is being built square. The condensing chambers in connection therewith have already been built, and the stack is now up a distance of about 80 fcer. At the Battery twenty head of stampers are now being raised about 4 feet, to allow of the Frue Concentrators being placed in position. One ton of ore from the Werahiko L. Hd. was despatched to Thames School of Mines for experimental purposes a few days since. As an evidence that (he works in connection with the new plant are being pushed on with all possible despatch, we may state Messrs Price Bros., Thames, have now about fifty hands employed in preparing machinery for this Company.
