WELLINGTON, fcjepfc. 14. SYDNEY TAI WHANG A'B TROUBLES Sydney laiwhanga's private affairs were again dragged before the local R.M. Court yesterday. In March last, Mr Huxley, a local tailor, obtained judgment against the lepresentative of the Northern Mooiidistrict for £7 3s, and an order has been made for payment of the debt within 14 days with the alternative of a month's imprisonment in the Auckland goal. Now that the period of party privilege has expired Sydney is again answerable to the law Courts. Counsel for creditor sought yesterday to have the order \aried so that tho imprisonment might take place in Wellington, urging that if the debtor -were allowed to go North there might bo trouble in getting hold of him again for some time. Sydney's counsel obtained an adjournment of the ca&e till Monday to give time for raising the money to meet the debt, but had topeisoually undertake that his Client should not leave Wellington in the meantime.
ECONOMY AND REFORM. A commission consisting of Mr Henry Oyei ton and Mr D. McMillan, late M.H.R., will be appointed to inquire into the management and finances oi the Lincoln An-ri-cullural College, Canterbury. The Minister of Education has 1 determined to reduce the cost of Suuiner l)eaf Mute Asylum by at least £500 a year. . H ,,
