Paeroa, Tuesday. The Farmers' cleaned up and retorted on Saturday last, as the result of two months work in their tribute in the Smilo of Fortune, Owharoa,. for 171ozg gold, which reduced by molting to IGSoz. The value of the gold is £2 7s 6d per oz. About the lowest in value ever got in Owharoa. The tributers in the Martha Extended cleaned up for about two months run in the Company's battery for 3 18oz lOdwts gold, which is divided between the Following : W. McKenna and party, 570z lOdwts ; Stevenson and party, 3oz ; Chappell, 290z sdwts ; Brown and party, 28oz 15dwts. The gold is of fair quality. At Waihi, the plant is nearly all fixed in the machine house. Bain is down 110 feet with the drain shaft, but owing to the sudden rapid iuflux of water he is compelled to stay proceedings for a while until the pump is rigged. Both the Union and Bosemont workings are turning out grand dirt, George Colebrook is well on with his poppet head, etc.* Contract and preliminaries generally are approaching completion. At Karangahake the rollers from Messrs Frazer and Sons are being fixed, and everything should be ready for a 1 start next week. There is nothing new from Marototo, except that it is incorrect that Mr J. H. Moore, the manager of the mine, proceeds to Sydney with the two tons ore that is g< ing, The adjourned quarterly meeting of the Ohinemim Licensing Committee took place at the Public Hall, on Saturday. Present': Messrs Farmer (chairman), Barrett, and Snodgrass. The only business before the committee was the application of Mr George Colebrook for a transfer of his license of the Waihi Hotel io Percy Nowill, his appointee. The application was duly granted, and the committee adjourned. The Ohinemuri County Council yesterday took possession of their new offices.
