IMPORTANT INSURANCE CASE.

The Sydney " Mottling Herald " says :—: — " The action Davies and another versus the National Fit e and Marine In nurance Company of Now Zealand, after occupying the attention of Mr Justice limes and a jury of four for neatly a week, was brought to a conclusion yesterday. The action was one in which the plaintiffs, wlio formerly carried on business at Drummoyne, Pruramatta River, as bubterine manufacturers, nought to recover upon two policies of insurance, one being upon the iactory, stock and plant, and the other upon certain butteiine shipped irom Melbourne for London, via Sydney. Several knotty legal points cropped up duting the development of the case, which were reserved for the decision of the full Court. The jury found a verdict in favour of the plaintiffs, awarding £887 3<* 2d on the tire policy, and £2,134 os.sd upon .the open marine policy, subject, however, to such reductions as were agreed upon by counsel. Considerable interest was taken in the case owing to the somewhat important issues involved, and during each clay the representatives of various insurance companies in the city attended the , Court in order to hear the evidence."
