OHINEMURI. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

Paeroa, Tuesday. Although lliere are croakers who always enJeavour to dry down the prospects of any district, more especially a goldfield, yet it seems that those who have systematically endeavoured to malign this •listriqfc are happily likely to tarn out fnlse prophets. Both at Karangahake, Waihi, and Waifekauti, there never were better prospects than at present ; and not alone better prospects but a better actual present. At Karaugahake the tributers in the Woodstock and Kenihvorth, Messrs Heitman and party, Shepherd and party, and Moore and party, are all likely t^ getfirst-class returns from their respective parcels. Two interim cleanings-up have taken place of Heitman's dirt at the Ivanhoe battery with excellent results. Shepherd and party have 25 tons for treatment at the Parkes Furnace, from which they anticipate a very handserat return; while Moore and party are doing similarly well. At Waihi there is some splendid ore to grass from the Smithy level in the Rosemont portion of the Waihi <jt. M Co.'s ground, which will sppak woll for itself wlipii the re'lnction of ore commences, which should now be
