AUCKLAND, Last Night.
Dr James Campbell, of Warkworlh, has been found deal in his bed. Amongst some bottles on the table was found the following note in deceased's handwriting : — -" Warkworth, September sth, 118 a.m. — This is to certify that James Campbell, M.D., of Wark worth, did, on or within four hours of above titne die. Cause of death : Broken heart caused by inability to resist the damned glass. I should therefore advise the jury to state at once, " Died because he was a fool." P.M. unnecessary. — James Campbell, M.D." He disposes of his own head, an addenum to the letter being as follows: •• I should like Professor Halford, Melbourne, to have my bend, if anyone will 9end it to him. P.»S. —In earnest : If 1 should be found dead, I have died from chloroform administered by self, so do not make any fuss about me. — J. C." It is not at present known whether deceased had any friends in the colony. He car»ie ti, Warkworth from West port. An inquest was held, anJ the jury returned a verdict that deceased died from effects of poison administered by himself while in an unsound state of mind produced by excessive drinking.
