The chairman of the committee being absent Mr Ilott was appointed chairman pro tern. The Secretary reported what further steps had been taken with respect to enforcing the compulsory attendance clauses ; and it appears considerable improvement has taken plape with respect to the attendance of several of those reported at tho previous meeting for irregular attendance. The report of the visiting committee Was received and adopted ; also the usual monthly reports. The Chairman referred to Mrs Marsdon as a most efficient teacher, of whose resignation he greatly regretted to hear, and moved, That the Secretary be requested to write to the Board of Education stating the circumstances, and impressing upon the Board the absolute necessity of appointing an experienced and fully qualified assistant teacher, competent to take charge of a large number of scholars, in the place of Mrs Marsden, whom the committee learned with regret had resigned.
