In both Melbourne and Sydney Malua and Carlyon are the most fancied candidates for the Melbourne Cup, and the tormer especially appeavs likely to come to a very bhort price. Up to the present he has been supported to win about £20,000, and 100 to 6 is now the best offer against him. Carlyon is also quoted at the same price, and has .been heavily backed. For the Victorian Derby, 4's to 1 are wanted about Volley. Chicago and Mentor are hivoudtes for the Caulfield Cup at 100 to .6, and the Melbourne-owned Osproy is in groat request for the Hawkesbury Handicap. He is quoted at Bto 1, and Keith and Plutarch are at 10 to 1.
