A THAMES MINER DIES AT BROKEN HILL.
A j-kivate letter from Bivken Hill states that Joseph B. Smith, a Thames miner, has died from typhoid fever. Several other Thamesite^ at Broken Hill ate al&o suffering trom fevei.
THIEVES SENTENCED. At I'aooa Police Court, John Gribson alias Knotfc, and Thomas James Moore were bcntencecl to si\: mouths' and two months' imprisonment respectively, lor larceny from Mr Law, draper, at Thames.
THE MOANATAIRI G.M.C. A ca^e of some interest came on at the Warden's Court to-day, being that' of the Kecciver of Gold Revenue v. ajoanatairi CM. C. claim t'63o rent. MrF. A. White appeared for the Company and admitted bhe liability, bub a^ked that the case should be adjourned for a month, as the Directors had nob yet heard fiom Mr Buchanan, who is in Australia endeavouring to float the company. The Wai den gave judgment for the amount claimed, with costs 13s.
