ANOTHER ATTEMPT AT SETTLEMENT. Sydney, August 30.
The Hon. J. N. Brunker, Minister o* Lands, is mediating in the colliery dispute, and it is stated there is a possibility of a settlement of the difficulty. The Maritime Labour Council have objected to the miners abandoning negotiations with the masters, but they have promised them their support in the strike.
Out of an aggregate total of 82,643 lunatics, in England and Wales no less than 45,052 are females, which implies, to put it roughly, that for every four male lunatics in the kingdom there ore. five female ones.
