KETCH COLONIST WRECKED THREE MEN DROWNED.
Tim ketch Colonist, bound from Lyttelton to Waifcara, went ashore off" the old pilot station about ] 1 o'clock this morning. Three of the crew, including 1 the captain whose name is unknown, weic drowned. There was one survivor, who states that the vessel lost her rudder off Cape Campbell yesterday. The Captain decided to run for Wellington before a Southerly gale. The ketch made the old pilot station this morning, and dropped anchor. She rode at anchor ior a short time and was riding safely when the Tarawera passed about 9.30 a.m. About an hour afterwards her anchor dragged and the vessel went on to the rocks. She was in a I he.ivy «oa, and immediately broke up. The ci cw consisted of the captain and thi cc men, and all were drowned but one. The captain's body has been washed ashore.
